Moving out of a Perth rental involves a lot more than the final clean — and it's easy to lose track of dates when you're also packing boxes and organising removalists. Here's the full checklist, in the order it should happen.
4 weeks before. Give written notice to your property manager per your lease terms (usually 21–30 days in WA). Start decluttering — donate or sell what you won't take, so there's less to pack and less for the cleaners to work around.
2–3 weeks before. Book your removalist and your end of lease clean now — the last week of any month is Perth's busiest period for both, since most leases end on the 30th.
1 week before. Redirect your mail with Australia Post. Schedule disconnection/reconnection for electricity, gas, internet and water for your move date. Notify anyone who needs your new address — bank, Medicare, work.
Moving day. Do a final meter reading (photograph it). Remove all belongings, including anything in the garage, garden shed or under the house. Check every cupboard, drawer and the back of every door — items get left behind constantly.
The day after. Book your clean for the day after everything's out, not before — empty rooms clean far more thoroughly, especially wardrobes, skirting boards and behind where furniture sat.
Final walk-through. Compare the property against your original entry condition report. Photograph everything once cleaning is done, before you hand back keys — this protects you if anything is disputed later.
